Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi (may God have mercy on him) was a pioneer of charitable work in the Kingdom and one of the most prominent businessmen who combined commercial success with community giving. He grew up in Al Bukayriyah Governorate and began his career early, eventually becoming one of the most prominent businessmen. He believed in the impact of charity in blessing wealth, so he allocated a third of his wealth as an endowment for God Almighty. His endowments diversified to include farms, hotels, factories, and companies, including more than 150,000 palm trees and 300,000 charitable shares. In 1430 AH (1999 AD), he established the Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi Charitable Foundation to organize his charitable work, which works in the fields of food and irrigation, education, advocacy, health, and development projects. He was characterized by his humility, generosity, and diligence, and remained close to the people until his death on Safar 14, 1440 AH (1999 AD), at the age of 94, leaving behind a lasting impact in the field of charity and giving.
